is it a sweet spring day
as you sit next to the road
in a strange country?

what’s in the bag next to you
is it filled with rainbows & hopes
does the city’s inner heart hear
your dreams of a better tomorrow
have you written it down in your journal
for years later to ponder on?

go on
lay your dreamy head on your hand

*Usha Nalinie Marhé is a writer and journalist originally from Suriname, till 1975 a former Dutch colony in South America. In 1990 she migrated to The Netherlands. As a freelance-journalist Marhé continues to publish articles and columns, in well known Dutch papers and magazines as Opzij, De Groene Amsterdammer, Vrij Nederland en Onze Wereld. She interviewed the Indian Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan (for the daily paper Trouw), which she considers to be a milestone in her career. In 1993 she is nominated for the ASN-Mediaprijs, later renamed into the Zilveren Zebra Mediaprijs (Silver Zebra Media prize).
